Within a sales team, the sales development representative or SDR's mission is to detect and evaluate new sales leads. For several years, the demand for these profiles has been increasing, particularly in start-ups, tech and software companies which need to explore and develop a market.
Since this role is aimed at junior profiles, salaries are thus fairly stable and correspond to an early career compensation, but there is usually an incentive based on sales performance that can be significant and complete the package. A greater increase in salary occurs as soon as an SDR moves into the role of business developer, for whom salary rises faster.
